Workshops Saturday & Sunday

Saturday: The Foundations of Turning

Find your axis, tune your pivots, spiral your world.

  • Two workshops of 75 minutes each.
    • 2:00 to 3:15 PM
    • 3:30 to 4:45 PM

You will gain:

  • A concrete understanding of the three distinct building blocks for rotation in tango:
    • Axis
    • Pivoting
    • Spiraling
  • Tools to use the rotational and coupled motion dynamics of your spine.
  • Exercises to increase your skill and responsiveness during turns.

SUNDAY: Turning technique, timing, and dynamics

  • Two workshops of 75 minutes each.
    • 2:00 to 3:15 PM
    • 3:30 to 4:45 PM

You will learn:

  • The building elements to design and structure your turns in tango.
  • Strategies to help you sequence the correct timing for each turn.
  • How to use movement quality features that enrich your turn dynamics.

Be a Teacher Assistant


Tomás will be accompanied by Teacher Assistants at the workshops in Minneapolis. The TAP (Teacher Assistant Project) for Argentine Tango is a Tango Learning effort that has the purpose of providing teacher training opportunities for advanced dancers and teachers within the context of real-life environments and learning situations.
