Entre Profs
Hola!
We’ve done this before, and I want to do it again: a one-day gathering just for us — the teachers. I’m calling it Entre Profs, and that’s the spirit I want it to have. It’s not a workshop where a guest from out of town presents a topic, but a room where everyone in it is both a teacher and, still and always, a student.
Here’s what I keep coming back to: each of us has spent years refining our tango and our teaching. At the same time, every one of us has something we’re still working on — some corner of our dancing or our teaching we’d love more eyes on, more practice with, more honest feedback about, or simply direct instruction. Entre Profs is built around both halves of that.
Here’s how it will work:
Entre Profs is a one-day event hosted in Montreal this coming winter. A small set of teachers will offer presentations and workshops on specific aspects of teaching tango.
Each of us will answer a few questions — what we’d like to teach or facilitate, and what we’d like to learn or get guidance on — so everyone has the chance to do both, if they’d like. Presenting is entirely optional; if you’d rather just attend as a learner, that’s completely fine too.
I’ll turn everyone’s answers into one anonymous survey, and we’ll vote together on which topics make it in. Since a single day only holds so much, only the most popular topics — chosen by that vote, not by me — get a slot.
On finances: I’ll ask each of us how much we’d be comfortable paying, so we land on an amount that works for everyone, presenters and participants alike. Whatever we collect goes toward paying the presenters and covering the event’s costs.
